the Writer in Mommy

I received my BA in Creative Writing in the winter of ‘08 and am planning on getting some kind of teaching credentials. I wanted to be an Elementary school teacher (I decided during the months I was pregnant), but I think I will do pre-school for now, and later on I hope to get my MFA in Creative Writing and hopefully write some short pieces. I don’t know if I would be able to write novels, they scare me. But of course I will try and short stories are wonderful. I love them.

Well, this is where I’m at right now and one of the reasons why I decided to start this particular blog was to better myself in writing (practice) and for my own personal reflection. I’ve had a blog before (Xanga), but that was long ago when I was in high school. I’ve left it, and I want something new.

I’m not working right now, but I am looking for a part-time job just so I can stay sane from taking care of my 18 month old boy.

Oh, and I absolutely have to have my coffee! Can’t you just smell that nice steamy aroma? :)

Hope you write lots of comments!

  • Blogging is great writing practice – you can really get out all those mind dumps and essays in your head. There’s also a lovely community out there to keep you company :)

I’m a mum of a 3 month old, currently working from home and trying to finish my novel without sacrificing time with my small man. It’s hard, but worth it.

    Good luck with your writing!

  • Hi Kari, thanks for the comment on my blog, about my writing. It’s fairly new to me but I find it really enjoyable. I like that you’ve got a coffee picture here – I’m a bit of a coffee fanatic myself. Until recently, I had a coffee picture in my blog header. I’ve just read a bit of your blog here. Good luck with everything!
